The fight was originally scheduled for May 12 at Mombasa's Makande KPA Hall.

Kenyans are gearing up for a clash of titans when Kenya’s Sarah Achieng nicknamed 'Angel of War' will battle against Edith Soledad of Argentina for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Super Lightweight belt. The battle will be staged at the Charter Hall in Nairobi on June 10.

Achieng defended the title last December by stopping Zimbabwe's Chiedza Homakoma in the 8th round in Nairobi. The Commonwealth champion who saw her dream for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super lightweight cut short by a visa hitch will be looking to impress at home.

The 34-year-old has declared that she will step into the ring with unwavering determination and she is more than prepared to wow the fans.

"This is my territory. The belt will remain here. I request Kenyans to turn up in large numbers on the day so we can celebrate this victory together," the Commonwealth champion urged.

The Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) Champion, coached by Priest Analo has been training at the Kariobangi Social Hall for the fight since January. She believes that Soledad will pose her a challenge.

Soledad, a former unified featherweight world champion previously held the World Boxing Association title between 2013 and 2016 and the World Boxing Council between 2015 and 2016.

“I am studying Soledad on her social media pages so I understand her style and weaknesses. So far, I have established that she is a very offensive fighter so we are looking for ways to neutralize that. I am also working on speed, targets, and changing of stance,” Achieng said.

According to Achieng, most female fighters dread fighting against her for fear of failing to defend the title when fighting against her.

“I feel they are afraid of my ruthlessness because I show no mercy. I leave no stone unturned,” she laughed.

Her opponent Soledad is expected in the country on June 5 for the clash. During her stay in Kenya, she will engage in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in conjunction with the Argentine Embassy to Kenya.
